Pets seen around Community

We have all kinds of creatures in our community. Some see animals as a nuisance while others find them a beautiful compliment to our country life style. Many enjoy having a pet while others wonder why? People have pets for reasons beside the obvious like they love a certain type of animal.  Pets offer companionship to the lonely; they offer structure to a life because of their routine, they relieve stress, give people exercise, get us out, make friends, for some offer protection and others fulfill a need to care for something. Whatever the reason, they are a beautiful part of creation and since we have so many beautiful creatures in Foxwood; here is a way to show off your prize possession.

DUKE and FRECKLES

Meet Duke (Bichon ) and Freckles(hound mix). Furry children of George and Katie Briceno. You can see them being walked around the community daily by their mommy.

ROCKET

Hi Everyone,  it’s Mike and Andi Cuomo at #282. . Meet our dog Rocket. He’s a male terrier mix, part Brussells Griffon, about 6-7 years old. We’re not exactly sure, because we adopted him around Christmas, 2012 and at the time we were told he was about 2-3 yrs old.
He’s the perfect dog: He loves people and kids; he’s well behaved, playful and just independent enough that he’s not needy. So if you see us out walking feel free to come up and meet our little Rocket. He loves the attention.

KATIE SCARLET

TIGER AND LILY

PATRICK

ROSIE

SUZIE

Suzie This beautiful lady is Suzie. You'll often see her walking around the community in the early mornings with her dad, Bill Ingrassia.
20151002_211257725_iOS 20151010_211549431_iOS These beautiful creatures are seen almost every day around Foxwood. While in reality they are no one's pet, I like to consider them our community pets as they reside within our boundaries and to some we consider them like family. Though some may consider them a nuisance, to those who appreciate what they represent; they are a beautiful reminder of  how rural Long Island once was; a touch of the past where we are still not urban but still reside in the country and enjoy the wonders of Gods creation.

Bocce 2015

Despite 4 rainouts, 4 weeks over 90 degree Heat and Humidity, we managed to complete the 2015 season. In spite of it all, we seemed to have had a fun year and ended with exciting final out comes. This year the final results were determined in the Last Week. We congratulate all the winners and all the teams who all played well and made this a great season

  • 1st Place-Team 7- Eileen and Mike Moylan, Rosary and Jim Windsor and Joe Spano
  • 2nd Place- Team 4- Kate and Denis Joyce, Betty and Ed Powers and Pete Mosia
  • 3rd Place- Team 11- Mary Stanis, Judy and Don Engels, Eleanor Forte and Joan Matzik

Note: I wish to clarify the situation as to why we had no awards this year. Early before the season began we approached the HOA and asked them for a small grant of $300 so we could buy awards. We felt that the money generated by the Foxtales and Rentals which are community property could be shared with a community event. It was the consensus of the committee that it was an insult to collect money for awards which amounted to the fact that the winners were actually buying their own awards. To our dismay the HOA discussed it but never took a vote on it leaving us with no money as requested.  We feel that we made a just decision. The committee for 2016 can revisit this issue next year and decide what would be best for them.

And they’re Off!! As the trumpet blew, the horses ran along the track on a Friday night in Foxwood. The voice of Pete Mosia could be heard loudly calling out the race. AS the jockeys made their way around the track let by Micky Coppola, Dianne Capobianco, Eileen Moylan and MaryLee Feldman; fans placed their bets with The Para Mutual takers Janet Bernardo and Bill Heiberger. All hope for a big payoff from the cashier Dom Capobianco.

A few late running horses needed some encouragement as one fan Tom VanRiper tried to pry them along with some alcohol. He was quickly escorted back to his seat by the race judges.

After 4 races there was a break for Coffee and pastries before resuming. Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable evening.
