The 21st Century introduced a new form of controlling what we see, hear and think we know.
Facebook is one of these things. However it is no longer a place to share fun things, cute pictures or stories about our adventures. Facebook has become a TOOL!
Agency’s, governments and political groups have designed a sophisticated way to spam. They are able to create falsehoods and through VPN(virtual Private Networks) post them on the internet. Then unwitting people read them; because they are supposedly said by someone reputable or famous; believe it and repost. The more it is reposted; the more it spreads and GETS THEIR message across not yours.
SO BEFORE you repost anything: Think!!! Maybe what I am reposting about someone my not be true. Remember wanting it to be true doesn’t make it true. Knowingly spreading false rumors is the greater evil.
So because you don’t like someone or somebodys policy is not a good reason to spread lies. Worse its helping these spam artist accomplish their goal.
Before you repost anything do 3 things:
1) Do I know for sure that what was said is TRUE
2) Will what I post hurt anyone if it isn’t the TRUTH
3) If I repost this; is the potential outcome worth putting it ONLINE
We have the right to free speach but morally we are obligated to use it wisely and to not hurt others. Reposting a lie is not a good way to use such a great power we have been given.
