Regarding the community use of Facebook

To all the Members of our website:

The 21st Century introduced a new form of controlling what we see, hear and think we know.
Facebook is one of these things. However it is no longer a place to share fun things, cute pictures or stories about our adventures. Facebook has become a TOOL!

Agency’s, governments and political groups have designed a sophisticated way to spam. They are able to create falsehoods and through VPN(virtual Private Networks) post them on the internet. Then unwitting people read them; because they are supposedly said by someone reputable or famous; believe it and repost. The more it is reposted; the more it spreads and GETS THEIR message across not yours.

SO BEFORE you repost anything: Think!!! Maybe what I am reposting about someone my not be true. Remember wanting it to be true doesn’t make it true. Knowingly spreading false rumors is the greater evil.

So because you don’t like someone or somebodys policy is not a good reason to spread lies. Worse its helping these spam artist accomplish their goal.

Before you repost anything do 3 things:
1) Do I know for sure that what was said is TRUE
2) Will what I post hurt anyone if it isn’t the TRUTH
3) If I repost this; is the potential outcome worth putting it ONLINE

We have the right to free speach but morally we are obligated to use it wisely and to not hurt others. Reposting a lie is not a good way to use such a great power we have been given.

Letters to gain equal Funding

Community Advocacy

As part of our campaign for fiscal equity, our administration and Board of Education are working together to fight for Riverhead’s fair share of state funding. As residents of the Riverhead Central School District, how can you help? You can contact your state senator and legislator and governor to address these funding deficiencies. To assist, we have drafted a sample letter and complied contact information for Gov. Cuomo, Senator LaValle, Assemblyman Palumbo and Assemblyman Thiele. Please feel free to personalize your letters. Thank you.

Dr. Henriquez

Dear Mr. Thiele:

I am a resident of the Riverhead Central School District and call upon our state leaders to reverse the trend that has caused the following school districts to receive the lowest percentage of Foundation Aid from New York State:

  • Riverhead Central School District;
  • Glen Cove City School District;
  • Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District;
  • Ossining Union Free School District; and
  • Westbury School District

Our districts receive less than 50% of their allocated Foundation Aid based on the formula. Currently, the average Foundation Aid funding level for school districts across the state is approximately 80%.

Since the Foundation Aid Formula was established in 2008, Riverhead has experienced:

  • a 22.8% increase in student enrollment
  • a 307.9 % increase in the number of English Language Learners

Furthermore, Riverhead serves an ever-increasing number of students who receive free and reduced lunch. The Foundation Aid gap in these districts will continue to grow as their student needs and enrollments increase. We are simply asking that we be funded at the same level as our peers by providing these districts with at least 70% of their fully phased-in amount.

Sincerely,

_

Help Needed

Carolyn Contois ( C dogs unlimited) The dog groomer, boarding lady on Middle Road right next to our complex, is in need of old towels.
She takes in stray dogs and works with them to find them forever homes. So if you are cleaning out your linen closet and come across old towels.
Please drop them off at her house or at ours ( house #5) and we will be sure to get them over to her.

Thank you

HomeSchooled

HOME SCHOOLED, BUT DIDN’T KNOW IT UNTIL READING THIS LIST?

Most of us over 65 were Homeschooled in many ways

My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE .

“If you’re going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning.”

My mother taught me RELIGION.

“You better pray that will come out of the carpet.”

My father taught me about TIME TRAVEL

“If you don’t straighten up, I’m going to knock you into the middle of next week!”

My father taught me LOGIC

“Because I said so, that’s why

My mother taught me MORE LOGIC

“If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you’re not going to the store with me.”

My mother taught me FORESIGHT

Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you’re in an accident.”

My father taught me IRONY

“Keep crying and I’ll give you something to cry about.”

My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS

“Shut your mouth and eat your supper.”

My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM

“Just you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!”

My mother taught me about STAMINA

You’ll sit there until all that spinach is gone.”

My mother taught me about WEATHER

“This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it.”

My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY

“If I told you once, I’ve told you a million times, don’t exaggerate!”

My father taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE

“I brought you into this world, and I can take you out.”

My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION

“Stop acting like your father!”

My mother taught me about ENVY

“There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don’t have

wonderful parents like you do.”

My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION

“Just wait until we get home.”

My mother taught me about RECEIVING

“You are going to get it from your father when he gets home!”

My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE

“If you don’t stop crossing your eyes, they are going to get stuck that way.”

My mother taught me ESP

“Put your sweater on; don’t you think I know when you are cold?”

My father taught me HUMOR

“When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don’t come running to me.”

My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT

“If you don’t eat your vegetables, you’ll never grow up.”

My mother taught me GENETICS

“You’re just like your father.”

My mother taught me about my ROOTS

“Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?”

My mother taught me WISDOM

“When you get to be my age, you’ll understand.”

My father taught me about JUSTICE

“One day you’ll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!”

This should be sent only to the over 65 crowd because the younger ones would not believe we truly were told these “EXACT” words by our parents.
