Message from Dave Soika regarding car birthday parades

Birthday Parades

Information for our residents of Foxwood Village.  As you may have noticed in the past few weeks, a convoy of cars has driven by certain houses in celebration of 90th birthdays.  These are major milestones in one’s life.  This all started with Terry Olender.  She is my Daughter in Laws Grandmother.  In other words she’s Family.  Her granddaughters came up with the idea of a drive by since no one could be together because of the Coronavirus.  We were part of it.  My wife, Maryann thought why not send it out to the community.  She wrote a note about the parade and sent it to Bill Fox who in turn emailed it out to our residents.  You could have knocked us over with a feather for all the residents who turned out.  It was great and Terry had a blast for her 90th.

Next came Walter Strubels 90th birthday the other day.  His neighbor arranged this parade.  This information went out by word of mouth since Walter is on the internet and could intercept a blast email. Judging by the amount of cars the email wasn’t even necessary.  He had a great turnout.

This leads me to this point.  This is a great opportunity for our residents, who have been cooped up in their houses for weeks, to stay in their cars, see their neighbors and get some fresh air.  So if anyone has a 90th birthday this year, a family member has to start the ball rolling.  We have no idea how old anyone is.  We do have the birthday list but couldn’t say if you are going to be 70 or 90.  All this must be started by the family or neighbor.  All it takes is an email to Bill Fox at webmasterfvhoa@hotmail.com with the date and time.

This is not done by the HOA or the Recreation Committee.  Maryann thought it was a great idea and I agree with her, but she is not running the show.  This is up to each individual family.  I hope this clears up any confusion about why someone didn’t get a 73 birthday parade!  As a community we’d love to come together to help celebrate these major milestone.  But we have to know about them!

Sincerely, Dave Soika

APHORISMS

Aphorisms

♦  I read that 4,153,237 people got married last

year. Not to cause any trouble….but shouldn’t that be an even number?

♦  I find it ironic that the colours red, white and

blue stand for freedom, until they are flashing behind you.

♦  When wearing a bikini, women reveal 90% of their

body. Men are so polite they only look at the covered parts.

♦  Relationships are a lot like algebra. Have you

ever looked at your X and wondered Y?

♦  America is a country which produces citizens who

will cross the ocean to fight for democracy, but won’t cross the street to vote.

♦  You know that tingly little feeling you get when

you love someone? That’s common sense leaving your body

♦  My therapist says I have a preoccupation with

vengeance. We’ll see about that!

♦  I think my neighbour is stalking me as she’s been

Googling my name on her computer. I saw it through my telescope last night.

♦  Money talks … but all mine ever says is  good-bye.

♦  You’re not fat, you’re just easier to see.

♦  If you think nobody cares whether you’re alive,

try missing a couple of payments.

♦  I always wondered what the job application is

like at Hooters.  Do they just give you a bra and say, “Here, fill this out?”

♦  The location of your mailbox shows you how far

away from your house you can go in a robe, before you start looking like a mental patient.

Now,

don’t you feel better knowing what an aphorism is.

Line Dancing Club

LINE DANCING CLUB

LOOKING FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO MOVE

We meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am at Club House

Tuesday is contemporary music

Thursday is country music

Line dancing is another form of exercising.  Moving of any kind is excellent not only for our bodies but also for our minds.  Remembering the dance steps is exercising our brains. So why not move to music. We are looking for more members to participate.
